What network does PC Mobile operate on and what is the coverage like?

PC mobile monthly plans operate on the TELUS network providing cell phone service to 97% of the Canadian population.

Who will be able to use the extended network coverage in Manitoba?

The extended coverage is for PC mobile postpaid customers with HSPA/LTE devices. The customer’s primary residence and billing address must be within PC mobile’s own HSPA+/LTE network coverage areas when they buy or use the PC mobile service.

Do I pay long distance charges for calls within Canada?

No. You can call from anywhere in Canada to anywhere in Canada without incurring any long distance or roaming charges.

You will be asked at your point of activation whether you would like long distance capability outside of Canada. If not, your phone will not be able to make a long distance call until you activate the service by calling *611 from your phone (don’t worry, it’s a free call) or by calling 1-855-660-3355.

So if there are no long distance fees within Canada, why do I still have to dial 1 before making a long distance call?

Everyone making a Canada-wide call outside of their local area will still hear a recording that the call may be long distance. But don’t worry, you won’t see any long distance charges as long as the call is within Canada.

Can I use my PC Mobile phone while travelling to another country?

Yes, but keep in mind that international service providers may offer different services and their networks may have different frequencies. While in North America, PC mobile phones are compatible with HSPA 850/1900 MHZ frequencies. While travelling internationally, PC mobile phones are compatible with HSPA 850/900/1800/1900 MHZ frequencies. If the provider within the country does not offer the same frequency, your phone may not work on their network. You can view a list of their roaming partners here.

What happens if my phone doesn’t work where I’m travelling?

If the country you are travelling to does not have a compatible frequency, you may be purchase a phone from a local provider. You can choose to transfer your PC mobile SIM card over to the new phone you purchased so you can access all of your information. However, you may also opt to purchase and insert a local SIM card to avoid significant long distance and roaming charges.

  • Basic and digital features may vary within the travel partner’s digital coverage areas.
  • Data is charged by the MB and is prorated to the closest 20 KB.
  • Voicemail notification may not be available in all areas.

What about managing my roaming charges while I am travelling outside of Canada?

Once you use $100 of roaming pay-per-use data or Preferential roaming pay-per-use data you will have to provide consent to use incremental roaming pay-per-use data. The consent resets every month and must be provided every month once you reach the $100 threshold. You can provide consent to continue using data past the cap thresholds by logging into Web Self Care and adding an optional add-on, visiting The Mobile Shop location nearest you or calling into Client Care.
